Our class has joined the Scholastic Book Club. I am sending home book order forms. Please feel free to look through all the choices. Personally, I love to order the $1 books. There are some great selections. By ordering you are helping our class get free books and supplies. Thank you! We love reading!

Book order forms and money is due by November 15th. You can make purchases online by using the code NBWNL at Scholastic Book Club

Reading is so important!

Check out these statistics! Please read every night with your child.

National Honor Society

The National Honor Society came to read books to our students. Our class enjoyed listening to the high school students read. They were excited to see older kids that they knew from the bus, family friends, and so on.

Osmo Kit

We have just gotten our class Osmo kit. It is fantastic. The students have manipulatives that they can use for counting, letter recognition, listening, and more. We love the Monster Game. It allows the kids to use their imagination to help the monster create things in his world. It is so much fun!

Louie the Lightening Bug

SWEPCO provided our school with a viewing of a play, Louie the Lightening Bug, that taught our students about electricity and safety. The play was so engaging, fun, and educational. Our students really enjoyed it.

Report Card & TPRI Testing

Image result for report card clipartWe will complete our report card testing this week. Please do not feel discouraged if your child does not do as well as you had hoped on the report card. You must remember that it is the beginning of the year and that your child will continue to grow in those areas that need support.

Also, we  begin testing for TPRI this week. It is our beginning of the year early reading assessment. We test the students one on one regarding letter names, sounds, blending, rhyming, and much more. As soon as I am through testing, the results will be sent home.

Three Weeks

We have been quite busy these past few weeks getting into our routine and establishing our classroom community. It has been amazing to get to know your child and learn their personality. Just a reminder. Our three week progress report will be sent home on Tuesday. Please sign it and return to school. Continue to work with your child on sight words. It is very important. I will be sending home flash cards to help you practice with your child. Thank you again for everything that you do.

First Week

We had a great first week. I am excited to see their progress and growth as we start the year. Some of us act like we are still celebrating summer, but we are slowly getting back into a school rhythm. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

School Board Appreciation

It is school board appreciation month and our class designed a beautiful card. Ms. Becky thought a pop up card would be neat. The theme was "Soaring to New Heights." I think that we did a great job. What do you think?
