Don't forget our Kindergarten Thanksgiving Feast is tomorrow at 1:30 p.m at the JPS Gym! We have 16 students in our class. Come join us!!

Halloween

Our Halloween party and trick or treat event was fantastic! The kids had a wonderful time. They went home on a sugar high!!

Don't forget tomorrow, October 18th, is our pumpkin patch field trip to Calie's Acres. We will be leaving at 8:30 a.m. If your child needs breakfast, please get them to school before 7:50 a.m. Be sure your child is wearing socks so that he or she can join in our fun on the bounce pad. Please send a bottle of water with your child as well. 

Don't Forget

Please send back any of your child's permission slips. We need a head count for sack lunches. Our cafeteria staff need to know how many lunches to create for our students. 

Report cards go home on Thursday. Please sign and return them as soon as you can. I will be sending MClass BOY results home this week as well. This information is for you to keep and has some helpful tips on the back of the paperwork. 

Jefferson Elementary Students

Jefferson Elementary students dropped by our campus to read stories to our class. The class enjoyed getting to see the older brothers and sisters of their classmates. The students were fantastic readers and the kids were enthralled with them! 

 

STEM Index Card Building

In STEM Specials, we used index cards to create towers by stacking and balancing. The kids had a great time! They enjoyed folding the cards and creating their own creation. Some created buildings. Some created towers. Others made bridges. It was so much fun!
 

STEM Day

Here are a few photos from our STEM Day on Friday. On Fridays, we spend our specials time learning about science and conducting experiments. We built gum drop towers last week. The kids had a blast!

"Out Work The Mustangs"

Here are some photos from "Out Work the Mustangs" Day. We helped to celebrate the pep rally by wearing bright neon colors or construction worker attire. 

 

VFW Fingerprinting

 

The VFW came to campus a day early and got our fingerprinting completed. Each child is going home with a National Child Identification Program that includes their fingerprints. You just need to fill in your child's name, address, phone, etc. to complete the form. This is a great tool in case of emergencies. A big thank you to the VFW and police officers for coming to campus and helping collect our fingerprints. 

Grandparents' Day

Grandparents' Day was a success. Thank you to everyone that came. We loved getting to see all of you. We had a great turn out! This week we don't have too much on our agenda. The only thing that we have going on is a fingerprinting on Wednesday and a fire drill on Friday. 

Grandparents' Day Breakfast Forms

Please return the Grandparents'  Day Breakfast forms on Friday, September 2nd. We need a headcount of the number of grandparents coming. The breakfast will be on September 14th from 7:15-7:40 a.m. We can't wait to see you all!!

Parent Letters

Thank you all for your wonderful responses to my parent letter request. These letters allow me to learn so much about your child. I am able to know your hopes for this year as well. I like that this provides us an opportunity to work together to help your child have a successful year. 

PE

We will have PE on Tuesdays and Thursdays of this year. Please make sure that your child wears appropriate shoes on these days. Tennis shoes or closed toe shoes are preferred. Please no flip flops or slides. Our PE coach, Coach Purifoy, has tons of fun activities planned for the kids this year, such as t-ball, soccer, and frisbee. The kids love going to PE and learning with Coach Purifoy. 

Welcome

 

Welcome to our class! I am so excited to start our new year off. I was happy to see everyone on Meet the Teacher night. Thank you all for coming. The only things your child will need are a backpack, water bottle, lunch box (if wanted), and a change of clothes. The school district is providing all school supplies this year. Breakfast and lunch will be free to students on all campuses. If you would like to donate any supplies to our classroom, we are always in need of Kleenex or Clorox Disinfecting Wipes. I am excited to have your child in my class and cannot wait to see what this new year brings!  

Caldwell Zoo

We will be visiting the Caldwell Zoo on May 2nd. The zoo has requested that parents purchase their tickets online at least two weeks ahead of the trip to ensure that everyone can be accomodated. I am sending all this information home tomorrow in your child's folder. 

Books with Bunnies

We have three major events this week. We have Books with Bunnies at Jefferson Carnegie Library on 4/12. Our class will leave campus at 8:15 a.m. Please make sure your child is at school in plenty of time to eat breakfast if he or she needs to. Parents and siblings will not be invited to this event due to limited space and covid protocols. 

On 4/14 JPS will have their Easter Egg Hunt. Our class will hunt at 11:15 a.m. Please send 15 filled eggs and a basket with your child on this day. We will not be having a party. We will just have our Easter Egg Hunt. You all are welcome to join us.

Good Friday is on 4/15 and we will not have school on this day. 

Animal Coverings

Our class has been working on animal coverings. We have been talking about the types of animals and if they have fur, feathers, skin, or scales. Some of their answers have been out of this world. We completed a group activity the other day where the class rotated around their table creating illustrations of animals with these different coverings. Check out our illustrations!

Sentence Construction

We have been working on reading, writing, constructing, and illustrating our sentences throughout the past few weeks. Below is a picture of the amazing work our class did on sentence construction. We completed a cut/glue activity and the class could illustrate their sentences in any way. 

Three-D Shape Sort

On our final day of learning about three dimensional shapes our class completed stations sorting different types. The kids rotated through the stations and completed independently their own cut/glue sort. Below are some pictures of our adventure in learning three dimensional shapes.

Graduation Pictures

Don't forget graduation pictures are on March 23rd at 8 a.m! Your child will wear a white gown provided by Lifetouch and hold a cap in their hands. Be sure your child looks his or her best!

March

March is here! I can't believe how fast this school year has flown by. We will be doing a lot of things this week. We will be completing any testing for report cards, as well as taking graduation pictures. It is important that your child is here every day. We have so much to do before spring break. 

Activities

We have completed several activities this week. First we colored, cut, and glued together a bunny. Each bunny was certainly unique! In math, we are studying two dimensional shapes. We created a Circle Fox. It was a fox created from a circle that states its two dimensional traits. Below are pictures of our creations. Please enjoy! 

Valentines and more

We are partied out! The kids had a blast at our Valentine's Day party. A big thank you to you all for making it so fantastic. I enjoyed seeing the class studying their valentines with such glee and happiness. 

This week I will be sending the results from our reading level testing. I will send this by Wednesday. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. 

BAS and more

We have a lot going on within the next few weeks in our class. We will be testing for our BAS. This is to see what level the kids are reading on. I'm happy to say that I tested a few kids on Friday and everyone is going up a level. Yay!!! Our hundredth day of school is on Feb. 1st. We will have a Valentine's party on Feb. 11th. We are going to be extremely busy, but I can't believe how fast the month of January flew by. 

MClass MOY Testing

This week we will be starting our MClass Middle of the Year Testing. We will be testing on letter recognition, blending, sight word recognition, and more. I will be sending home these results as soon as possible. 

Welcome Back!

We had a great week back. It was a little hectic in the beginning, but our class got back into our normal weekly routine. Everyone was so excited to tell about their Christmas adventures. I loved getting to hear what they did, who they visited, and what Santa brought them. Below is a picture from our Christmas Concert.
